Brand Products - Are they dead?

Iconic brands are defined as having that certain appeal that contribute to consumer's self-expression and personal identity.  In the fashion world it can go terribly wrong and then we have to call the fashion police, who in some cases arrest the fashion victum and not the perpotrator, usually with good cause.

If learning to build an iconic brand is elusive,  how then can I make the brand build itself?
